PROVIDENCE, RI – SK Wealth, a leading fee-only wealth management firm in Rhode Island, is pleased to announce the promotion of Mackenzie “Mac” Richards to the position of Partner. This promotion reflects Mac’s exceptional contributions to the firm and dedication to client service since joining SK Wealth five years ago.

“This next step is something I’ve been working towards my whole career and I couldn’t be more excited,” says Mac who joined SK Wealth in 2020, and quickly earned a promotion to Client Relationship Manager, a role he will continue to hold as Partner.

“We have the pleasure of working with amazing clients that value our approach and an outstanding team that continues to support each other and push itself to improve. I am looking forward to building upon the hard work and dedication of Jason [Archambault, CEO of SK Wealth] and our team to continue to grow our business to be the premier wealth management firm in the area.”

About Mac

Mac approaches his client work with an emphasis on clarity, simplifying complex ideas and helping clients transform their hard work into financial freedom.

As the former Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Financial Planning Association of Rhode Island, Mac has demonstrated leadership in the broader financial planning community. Notably, he founded the chapter’s “NexGen” community to support emerging financial planners.

Prior to entering financial services, Mac served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years. He deployed as a mortarman and dog handler in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

After returning home from the military, Mac honed his practice at several firms before finding his way to SK Wealth.

“For the better part of a decade I bounced around larger institutions that were focused on selling rather than providing advice. I knew I was looking for something different, but it’s not easy to find firms that are committed to providing legitimate advice and expertise instead of just pushing an annuity on somebody. It was even more difficult to find a firm that wasn’t already corporately owned or that seemed like it would automatically be passed down to the founder’s son or daughter.

I knew I wanted to be involved in the direction of the business someday, so I kept looking. I got to know Jason as we overlapped on the Board for the Financial Planning Association of Rhode Island. As I learned more about SK Wealth from him, I knew it was a place that I wanted to be since it not only focused on financial planning, but also had potential for ownership.”

While Mac truly enjoys working with his clients and colleagues, he relishes in any time off of Microsoft Teams as well. Whether he’s out on Narragansett Bay, hiking in the White Mountains, or embarrassing himself on the tennis court, you can usually find him outside.

Mac practices what he preaches to clients. In addition to turning off the news and getting outside, he strongly urges that they maintain their relationships and get involved in their communities. For his part, he is currently on the Jamestown Philomenian Library Board of Trustees and previously served as Vice Commander for VFW Post 9447.

Mac lives in Jamestown, RI along with his wife, Brittany, his son, Milo, and their dogs Diego and Olive.
