CAIA Designation

Founded in 2002, the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association sponsors the only alternative investment credential, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), with global recognition. The CAIA Charter is a recognized hallmark of distinction, assuring that the Charter Holder has received rigorous training in understanding and managing alternative investments and has agreed to abide by the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

To earn a CAIA charter, you must have four years’ professional financial services experience, become a member of CAIA Association, and agree to abide by the Membership Agreement of CAIA Association and ethical standards. In order to remain on the cutting edge of alternative investing, every three years, CAIA members must complete the online self-evaluation tool, a series of multiple-choice and constructed response questions developed by the CAIA Association to keep members’ knowledge current.

The CAIA Program is organized into two levels, each culminating in a six-hour exam. You can only proceed to the second exam after successfully passing the first exam.
